“Llenç a la mar”: live art facing the Mediterranean in Altea
26 May 2026
The Department of Culture of the Altea City Council, in collaboration with the Faculty of Fine Arts of Altea, presents “ Llenc a la mar ”, a new artistic program that will bring the creative process of Fine Arts students closer to the public in a privileged environment by the sea.
The first edition of this initiative will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the viewpoint on the Altea seafront promenade. Throughout the day, a student from the Faculty will create a large-scale painting live, inspired by the essence of the Mediterranean landscape.
The public will be able to witness each phase of the creative process up close, turning the experience into an immersive and participatory proposal that connects art, environment and citizens.
This first edition will feature the participation of Colombian student Tomás Salazar Suaza , whose work lies at the intersection of expressionism, abstraction, and surrealism. His style is distinguished by his use of acrylic applied with a palette knife and by a unique color palette, influenced by his color blindness.
With this project, the Department of Culture and the Faculty of Fine Arts reinforce their commitment to promoting young talent and disseminating the artistic studies taught at the Altea Campus of the Miguel Hernández University, bringing contemporary creation closer to the entire citizenry.
Also, on Thursday, May 28th at 10:00 a.m., a press conference will be held in the Library of the Altea Cultural Center. Participants will include the Councilor for Culture, Pepa Victoria Pérez ; the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Javier Moreno ; the Director of the Art Department, Juan Francisco Martínez ; and the Quality Coordinator, José Antonio Hinojos , who will present the objectives and program of this new cultural initiative.
