Expo Imma Mengual + Nina Llorens Peters: “SCRAPOLOGY” · Soler Blasco Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum · April 2, 2026

1 April 2026

Next Thursday, April 2nd at 7:30 pm , the exhibition “SCRAPOLOGY” will be inaugurated , a collaborative artistic project by Imma Mengual and Nina Llorens Peters that will take place in the Soler Blasco Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum.

The exhibition is the result of a joint investigation into residue, fragment, and memory, approached from two distinct methodologies and aesthetic languages that converge in a shared space of reflection. Through their works, both artists construct a map of their personal universes, using paper and found objects as raw materials.

On one hand, Imma Mengual —sculptor, researcher, and lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Altea, Miguel Hernández University—presents the series NUBE.ES. She explores the transformation of newsprint and the rotary roll through their material dislocation, giving them a sculptural dimension. Her pieces, suspended in space, function as an “atmospheric archive” that reflects on the nature of information and its scale in the contemporary global context.

On the other hand, Nina Llorens Peters —a collage artist and graphic designer with extensive experience in publishing—proposes a more intimate approach through collage and assemblage. Her work is based on an “archaeology of the everyday,” where maps, altered texts, and cutouts are transformed into new visual geographies. In her compositions, typography loses its function as a tool for reading, becoming rhythm, texture, and presence.

The collaboration between the two artists highlights scrap (waste) as a material for artistic and anthropological study, also establishing a dialogue with the historical and heritage context of the museum that houses the exhibition.

The opening will be attended by representatives from the cultural department of the Xàbia City Council, and the exhibition will be open until May 31, 2026.
